Scots' Music
A Maidens'
Song
A simple brief
thought on Scottish
Independance.

Were the outdated
union not of some very
high value to England and
the English, why would
they fight so to try to
keep it?

There are only so many
slices to a pie, for one to
have more, another must
have less.

Lastly - to those Scottish
"Loyalists" - to whom are
you loyal?
Scots royalty died in the
1700's so it can be no
Scots crown - And
certainly not it appears to
those who came before,
that bled for Scotland
and her freedom !
In the words
of Burns, as he
wrote from the heart.

Scots, wha hae wi' Wallace bled,
Scots, wham Bruce has aften led,
Welcome to your gory bed,
Or to victorie.

Now's the day, and now's the hour;
See the front o' battle lour;
See approach proud Edward's power,
Chains and slaverie.

Wha would be a traitor-knave?
Wha can fill a coward's grave?
Wha sae base as be a Slave?
Let him turn and flie:

Wha for Scotland's king and law,
Freedom's sword will strongly draw,
Free-man stand, or free-man fa',
Let him follow me.

By Oppression's woes and pains!
By your Sons in servile chains!
We will drain our dearest veins,
But they shall be free!

Lay the proud Usurpers low!
Tyrants fall in every foe!
Liberty's in every blow!
Let us Do - or Die!!
!

Choose your destiny.

A lass stood on a distant shore
Back bent, body frozen to the core.
Darkened eyes that showed no age
A fierce wind blew, a tempest raged.
Long years of men knew this lassie well
Their ways and wiles she could easy tell,
For great in age and living was she
Knew the stars, depths of the sea

Against destruction the maiden toiled
Refusing her life be further spoiled
Buckled and weary in the fearsome blast
With strength of will she clung on fast
Firm and strong bent with each gust
To endure this trial she knew she must
Strenuous heaving wracked in pain
All alone she withstood wind and rain.

Long the storm cursed and wailed
Elements screamed with snow and hail
To hasten her death was the task so foul
With malice intent did they cry and howl.
The lass resisted the harsh attack
Power and courage she did not lack
In anguish twisted her back the more
As battle raged on this distant shore

Thus slowly and painfully winter passed
With merest hope it would not last
And from this torment and hate be free
To sit beneath dappled shade of tree
As last shred of hope or faith had gone
A light from a far horizon shone
Her reedy frame distorted to the end
Desperate that this hurt should mend

The days grew warmer and brighter still
Heart warming light bathed her until
The gale was halted by this hue
And vitality surged in her veins anew
At last the height of summer came
But her heart was blackened by the stain
For although across the earth was peace
This was but a brief release.
